We spent a few days camping in Banff National Park recently. Hiking was on the agenda, but so were day-trips to Banff for window-shopping and sight-seeing!
Our first day we opted to visit Lake Louise. With several hiking options available for tourists, we choose a strenous hike to Big Beehive.
I lagged behind constantly and took frequent breaks. It took 5 1/2 hours round-trip, with the last 2km completely up-hill. Our dog Shepp urged me onwards whenever I lost sight of the guys.
The stunning view of Lake Louise. We were so high up that I felt uncomfortable at times.
A fellow hiker kindly offered to take a family photo of us:
Hungry and exhausted, we returned to our cozy camp-site.
Bruce was able to borrow the Ellsworth tent from Redbike!
Bruce insisted on preparing our meals. He makes great pancakes!
There was plenty of time for enjoying each other's company:
We played Monopoly and ate Jiffy Pop by lantern light:
Between hiking days, we went to Banff for some fun! Lots of cute loop-frame bikes with roomy baskets parked in fromt of shops:
Several bike shops offered rentals for as low as $11 per day!
This Electra looked ready to ride!
We window-shopped and snapped photos of people on bikes:
Hipster on his Raleigh:
This lovely lady kept warm in boots and a cozy scarf:
Tourists enjoying the beauty of Banff:
I bought some tea from this locally-owned shop!
A highlight of our trip was the hike to Bow Falls. Isaac really enjoyed it. It gets colder, windier and more majestic as you approach Bow Falls. I highly recommend this fairly easy hike!
Hope everyone enjoyed their summer holidays!
It looks like you had a great trip. I love both Lake Louise and Banff, true treasures!
