EBC Bike & Bake Sale!

On Saturday I took the Pashley to the Edmonton Bicycles Commuters storefront. They held their first Bikeworks Bike & Bake Sale. They needed some baked goods, so I made a batch of Triple Chocolate Brownies and brought them over.

This is the bake sale spread. There were a variety of treats, including gluten-free cupcakes.

I bought these delicious pistachio & rosewater cookies that were made byEBC President Chris Chan. My brownies are pictured on the top left.

I'm sure that these vegan chocolate pomegranite cherry cupcakes sold quickly. Oh my.

When I arrived at EBC, there were plenty of people looking for a bike. Mechanics were busy fixing up the bikes that people bought that day.

Everyone seemed to know what they were looking for, whether it was something for their kids, a reliable commuting bike, or a salvaged vintage bike.

This is something I've learned as the wife of a bike mechanic:

Chris checking out the wheel pile:

Someone found her special ride to buy!

Another customer purchased this Rocky Mountain Fusion. It was a great deal for $60!

It felt great to contribute in a small way towards the fundraiser. And it was also nice to meet some fellow cyclists that I've known about but never met. I look forward to more fun events at Bikeworks!

  1. It was a pretty awesome event and that Rocky Mountain Fusion was the best deal of the day... got a full overhaul and it's new owner is very happy.

So sorry I did not recognize you (at first)... must be the new haircut.

  2. I didn't get there until late in the afternoon, and I can vouch that most of those delectable treats were gone - just a few vegan cupcakes and a gorgeous-looking strawberry-rhubarb pie left. The bike room was satisfyingly empty too, and every possible workspace was being used. I think the day must have been a success! (I bought a bell and a lock for a friend of ours who is just starting to cycle...)

  3. $60? That's it?? It must've been an as-is, unrefurbished bike... but still! Nice.
